hi- im not clear if this brace is a better option than the 84.00 air cast short walking boot
what does this one do that the other doesn't.. looks like the air bladders are custom but what else. I have a 4th metatarsal stress fracture as well as a stress fracture on the navicualr. I need a good walking boot. i was given a rebound air walked by my dr and it is a poor design and not immobilizing my foot. pls help

The AirSelect Short is a re-designed model from the Aircast SP walker. The aircells have been changed for easier inflation and the front panel is pre-inflated. The boot was made lighter than the older model. The AirSelect walking boots have been designed to provide a more natural gait to the patient, and less hip differential, which has been a cause of discomfort for some patients. The bottom of the sole has a improved non-marking skid resistant rubber tread for greater traction and longer wear.

How well does this boot protect the foot after bunionectomy with toe fusion, and hammertoe surgery? Is walking in this boot considered partial or full weight bearing?

Thank you!
Question by: Chelle on May 25, 2014, 8:06 PM
Thank you for your question. The AirCast AirSelect Short Walking Boot is designed to be worn after a bunionectomy. It will allow for partial weight bearing for the foot.

Where can I purchase a replacement liner for this boot? I have another 4 weeks to go in mine and with the warm weather, it would be nice to have a back up liner for when I'm washing and air drying the other one.

I am preparing to have foot surgery on a lisfranc fracture - I will need to be non weight-bearing for 6-ish weeks. I presume that this boot cannot be used for that and is used later in the recovery process?
Question by: Michele on Jun 23, 2014, 12:20 PM
Michele
The boot can be worn after surgery if your physician is okay with that.

Do you sell just the liner? I have another 6 weeks in the boot and need an additional liner. This one is wearing out.

I am sorry we do not have a replacement liner for that boot

I started wearing this boot yesterday afternoon for a hairline fracture to the base of my toes & I'm non-weight bearing for now.
I have started to form a blister on my heel for some reason & I asking for suggestions to stop the blister from forming more.
Also, can I wear a lightweight sock to stop any friction as long as I don't have any open sores while wearing this boot?
Question by: Millie on Jul 8, 2014, 5:05 AM
Millie
Please contact your physician and let them know about the blister. It is strange that you are not ambulating on the foot and you have developed a blister. You can wear a sock, and make sure that you are pumping up the aircells in the boot to eliminate as much movemement as possible in the foot. The more movment the more friction, just make sure that you are not making it so tight that you are cutting off your circulation.
