Stabilizes The Kneecap To Help Prevent Dislocations And Help Alleviate Pain

The DonJoy Lateral J knee brace is one of our most popular patella stabilizing brace. The brace is equipped with a tubular, lateral “J” buttress that runs alongside the knee and provides support against lateral patellar subluxation, dislocations, or improper patellar tracking. The Lateral J can be worn during day-to-day activities, as well as sports and in water.

Drytex or Neoprene? Drytex is DonJoy's exclusive solution for patients with neoprene sensitivities or those who prefer less warmth from their bracing. Constructed of a unique patented nylon core and polyester Lycra fabric, it allows for improved airflow while still giving ample support and compression. Perfect for people in warm weather climates and those with neoprene allergies or irritations. (Photo images are of Drytex material with seams. Neoprene material, not shown, does not come with seams). Neoprene is a thicker material that will provide more warmth.

With or Without Hinge? This brace is available with a removable hinge for added stability for an additional cost. You should order the brace with a hinge if you have joint instability. It will provide more medial and lateral support. Otherwise, you should order the brace without a hinge.

Product Questions

My daughter is a competition cheerleader and she popped her knee cap out of place. Is this a brace that she could use while tumbling and competing?
Question by: Tomeka Smith on Aug 30, 2015, 10:44 AM
Yes, this brace would be appropriate.
Answer by: Admin on Aug 30, 2015, 10:44 AM
I had an ACL repair roughly 6 years ago, and a torn meniscus about a year ago. Most recently, my patella began to sublux occasionally. I'm looking for a brace that will support the patella and provide overall knee stability without being too bulky. I'd also like something that I could wear during sports. Currently, wearing it every day wouldn't be the norm...but it may develop into that as my knees get worse (at that point I would look for a more suitable everyday brace).I've basically narrowed it down to the Reaction and this brace. Which of these two braces would more fit my requirements? Or possibly a different brace?
Question by: Andrew on Jun 6, 2013, 7:04 PM
This brace would be a good option for you, the J buttress provides support to the patella and the length of the brace provides compression and support to the knee.

You have one more option for a Patella Stabilizer. The Tru-pull Lite, provides moderate support and is a smaller brace about 8 inches in length.

I ordered the small lateral J drytex brace. I play football and when I run or do anything super active my brace tends to shift from the upper thigh. I constantly have to move it back into the complete right fit for every play. It stays in place with my lower leg, just not the upper. Do you suggest a smaller size?
Question by: Ashley on Mar 21, 2016, 8:29 PM
A smaller size might help or a different brace such as the Tru-Pull Lite

I have this brace in drytex and would like to know how to clean it. Can I just put it in the clothes washer on gentle cycle? I have had it for 6 weeks and it needs to be cleaned/washed.
Question by: Don Gentry on Mar 31, 2012, 6:27 AM
Wash with mild detergent and let it air dry.

Hi, I've dislocated my knee cap a few times and recently chipped the patella as well. My doctor said that chipped spot will grow back with weaker fibro cartilage as the stronger original hyaline cartilage will not grow back. I'm looking for a brace that will prevent future dislocations and also protect the fibro cartilage from chipping, is this J brace right for me?
Question by: Ben on Mar 7, 2014, 9:53 AM
This a good brace to prevent further dislocations. Another choice is the Tru-Pull Lite. It is a shorter brace not as hot and gives a little more control over pulling that kneecap into the correct position. Either brace would be a good choice.
