Have used the tru pull lite but still had some minor dislocation. Will this J brace provide more support of the knee cap?
Daughter wants something with more support. Will this hinged product provide that?
Question by: Mike on Jun 10, 2011, 5:26 PM
I would suggest doing the Tru-Pull advanced system, you can do it with or with out hinges. This brace is going to provide the highest level of patella support.

Hi. I recently got the tru pull advance system for my knees for basketball..but the braces are just way to bulky and always are slipping down and the bands go over my knee..I saw this it looks like a much more active and light brace with great support..would this help prevent patella dislocations just as well?
Question by: Beau on Jun 27, 2011, 2:13 AM
The Donjoy Tru Pull Lite or this J Brace would be more low profile than the Tru Pull Advanced System and still prevent lateral tracking and dislocations of your patella. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

My son is a wrestler and needs a brace to support his patella. His current brace only allows him to bend 90 degrees. Will this brace allow him a broader range of motion?
Question by: Carol on Nov 30, 2011, 4:19 AM
Yes, this brace will allow him full range of motion while supporting the lateral patella tracking problems.

I have this brace in drytex and would like to know how to clean it. Can I just put it in the clothes washer on gentle cycle? I have had it for 6 weeks and it needs to be cleaned/washed.
Question by: Don Gentry on Mar 31, 2012, 6:27 AM
Wash with mild detergent and let it air dry.

Do you make a waterproof patella knee brace- My daughter is a swimmer and requires the brace to be streamline and water resistant. Do you make one?
Question by: Tammy Proctor on Jul 17, 2012, 6:56 PM
All of our braces can be worn in the water. Garret McNamara professional surfer wears our braces. The brace will have to be rinsed with tap water and should be air dryed.

I have medial and lateral patellar subluxation, though it is more pronounced in the lateral direction. I don't want a bulky brace and the J shape looks like it might provide the minimal medial support I need. I'm sensitive to neoprene so the drytex alternative is a plus. Is this brace a good choice?
Question by: Cynthia on May 29, 2013, 12:03 AM
Yes, the J Brace is a great option for Lateral Patella Support. Another option you may consider is the Tru-Pull Lite. It's a low profile brace, the shortest Patella Brace we have. Provides both medial and lateral support. Click <a href="

I had an ACL repair roughly 6 years ago, and a torn meniscus about a year ago. Most recently, my patella began to sublux occasionally. I'm looking for a brace that will support the patella and provide overall knee stability without being too bulky. I'd also like something that I could wear during sports. Currently, wearing it every day wouldn't be the norm...but it may develop into that as my knees get worse (at that point I would look for a more suitable everyday brace).I've basically narrowed it down to the Reaction and this brace. Which of these two braces would more fit my requirements? Or possibly a different brace?
Question by: Andrew on Jun 6, 2013, 7:04 PM
This brace would be a good option for you, the J buttress provides support to the patella and the length of the brace provides compression and support to the knee.

You have one more option for a Patella Stabilizer. The Tru-pull Lite, provides moderate support and is a smaller brace about 8 inches in length.

I have this brace, was wondering if there was something smaller with the same support ? Also would really prefer if this brace came in tan.? I hate having to wear such a big brace and it being so noticeable. I have dislocated my left knee two times so think this is the best support ? I have read you have total mobility with this brace however I can't seem to bend my leg only to barely walk without a limp.?
Question by: sierra on Sep 4, 2013, 9:16 PM
We do not have a tan brace that would help with your patella issues, however, the Reaction is a lighter lower profile brace that would keep that patella tracking efficiently or the Tru-Pull Lite is a lower profile less bulky patellafemoral brace.

I had an ACL repair 2 years ago and I would like to start playing cutting sports again. I have developed a patella tracking issue since my surgery and my doctor suggested this brace. I am nervous to buy this brace since it is not for ACL support and I will be playing cutting sports again(recreationally).

Will this still support my ACL?
Question by: Mary claire on Oct 26, 2013, 10:01 AM
This brace does not give support for the ACL, only patella tracking and if you get the hinged version that will give you some medial and lateral support. The Playmaker II with a patella donut would be a better choice. The Playmaker has our four-Points of Leverage strapping system that we use on our rigid ACL braces. The strapping creates the right kind tension to protect the ACL. The other option is one of our rigid ACL braces with a Tru-Pull Attachment for your patella.

I have had multiple patella dislocations over the last 20 years, it first happen while skiing, then it repeatedly happened while skating, playing hockey or making a false movement. I have met one of the top knee specialist here (Montreal) and had a bio-mechanical test perform, basically there is not much to be done beside working to strengthen my quads. The knee cartilage is bit worn and also have osteoarthritis of the knee. Ironically I don't have real pain or nothing that prevent me from running, biking or practicing karate weekly. The Dr says, I need to manage my human capital until I get older and get a total knee replacement surgery. I have always practice sport and I can't get the idea of no longer skiing, skating or playing hockey for fun. I had stop practicing those sport for few years but even though my knee cap would dislocate in all kind of situation. Last year, after training hard for 2 months, I went to ski a couple of time and my knee hold-up fine and had no pain, but I know dislocation will happen sooner or later no matter how careful I am and whatever I do. We only have one life to live and I don't want to live mine sitting in front of a TV set. I was suggest to buy a knee brace that will give me the extra security I need to practice my preferred sport. I am now very careful in ski, ( no more double daffy or 360 if you see what I mean), I only play hockey and skate in a non competing mode, just for fun. I'm thinking of ordering this brace with hinge, do you think this is the best brace for me?
Question by: Andre on Dec 26, 2013, 9:41 AM
Since you have had multiple dislocations I would suggest our best patello-femoral brace for that which would be the DonJoy Tru-Pull Advanced System.
This brace will help keep the patella tracking in the right position. The material of the brace is Drytex breathable material and you can get it with a hinge to give added medial and lateral support.
