Hi. I have severe chronic ankle instability, have since childhood (i was a professional klutz), i am a Firefighter/EMT, very active, always on my feet. My jobs and hobbies require allot of standing, walking, high impact, kneeling, and running all with heavy weights. I am looking for the most ideal brace i can find, do you have any input? I would greatly appreciate it. Stability and mobility is ideal, but i understand that i cannot always have both, so stability would be priority. Thank you for your time.

Thank you for your question. The Aircast Air Sport will offer a good amount of stability. The Velocity is going to provide the maximum support and is also very comfortable, which is also an option.

Hello, I chronically sprain my left ankle while running (roll to the left) . Minor sprains until the last one 5 months ago which was grade II. Which is the best brace to prevent rolling/re-injury that I can comfortable run in? A60 doesn't look like enough though looks comfortable. Are the sides of the Airsport rigid? Thank you.

Christine
The Aircast Airsport is a great brace to provide support for multiple ankle sprains. There are two plastic stays on the brace one on each side of the ankle with padding on the inside of the brace for comfort. Ther brace slides on your foot then there is one small strap in the back to hold it on and one longe strap that wraps around the ankle for added support. The brace is bigger than the A60 but should still fit in to an athletic shoe.

what shoes are best for wearing with an air cast?

Hello,
I am a trail runner and run obstacle course races. Which brace would you recommend for courses that involve running on uneven ground and also through mud/water? The Aircast A60 or the Aircast Airsport? Please advise. Thank you!

Amy
The A60 may work better for you because it is lower profile than the AirSport but also not as much support. Another option with better support than the A60 but is still able to get inot shoes is the DonJoy Stabilizing Pro Ankle Brace https://www.donjoystore.com/donjoy-stabilizing-pro-ankle-brace

Hi I recently suffered a Grade II ankle sprain tearing a ligament and a fibula fracture, no surgery needed. Im recovering nicelly but had chronic ankle inestability on both ankles but love doing canoeing, kneeling on the floor of the canoe to paddle.

I would like to know which one of your braces would be better to wear when I will recover and go canoeing again?, because it will need to fit inside a sport shoe, get wet and allow me to stay kneeling down over my feet. Would you suggest 2 different styles, one for the ankle that had the recent lesion and another type for the one just with chronic inestability?

Thank you very much

Thank you for your question. The AirCast Airsport Ankle Brace would be appropriate for your injury. The DonJoy stabilizing Ankle may be a better option as it is a little more streamline.

Hi I recently had surgery 4 weeks ago for an Osteochondral Defect in my Talus. I will be getting off crutches and boot hopefully soon and I was wondering what ankle brace you recommend. I do not want my surgery to fail and since I'm an active person I just want to prevent it. I'm between the Airsport and A60. However, I don't know which one will be better for me. I am a Zumba Instructor and very active like I said. Advice?

Thank you for your question. The AirSport will offer more support than the A60. The A60 is more streamline. Both will fit into an athletic shoe. If you are looking for mild stability the A60 would be appropriate. However, if you are looking for a more moderate level of support you would want to go with the AirSport.

My son is 9 and has fractured his ankle twice in the last six months due to chronic ankle instability, once during gymnastics and the second time during soccer. His orthopedist has him in a neoprene brace with a figure-8 strap, but this brand brace is not very durable. I'm looking for a brace to control ankle eversion during sports and that can be worn barefoot, as he surfs and needs protection in the water. Would the Aircast A60 or Airsport provide better support and prevent rolling? Thanks!

Tina
The Airsport would give him more support, especially if not wearing shoes. The A60 is a lower profile version of the Airsport, not as supportive

I am coming up on 12 weeks post achilles rupture surgery and will be coming out of my rigid boot. I'm not to wear a brace fulltime but feel I need something for those days on the job when I'll be on my foot most of the day. Is this recommended for achilles therapy?
Question by: geoff gann on Jul 8, 2014, 11:26 AM
The Airsport is an ankle brace ans will support the ankle. The Aircast Airheel Ankle brace might be something you will want to try. It has air bladders in the heel and in the back of the brace where the achillies is located. When you step down the air bladder in the hell acts as a cusion and pushes air into the bladders around the achillies creating some compression. The brace comes with ankle stabilizers as well but the most important part for you is the inflation of the pads around the achillies tendon. https://www.donjoystore.com/aircast-airheel-ankle-brace

Does the Air cast Ankle brace come in white? The one that has the cross strap. It's for a level 1 or 2 ankle sprain. I am only seeing it in black.
Question by: Clarisa Shepherd on Jul 15, 2014, 7:46 AM
The aircast Air Sport only comes in black

i had a medial malleolus fracture an my ankle is just out of cast.i do lot of running and play games like basketball, football so i wanted to know which brace between A60 and Airsport would suffice my requirements also i wear a size 8, should i go for a small or medium size brace?
Question by: franklin on Aug 5, 2014, 5:15 AM
Franklin
since you just got out of a cast, I would suggest the Airsport ankle brace. If will give you more support than the A60. the A60 is a lower profile brace and is a little slimmer in design but offers only mild support. That might be something you could transition into after you ankle has gotten stronger.
