Hello!

For a while now, my hip has been making a popping noise whenever I kick for dance. It has never caused me to have knee pain until this year. So, I was wondering, would this brace help my pain and keep my hip from popping?
Question by: Anella on Sep 25, 2015, 8:00 PM
Anella
The SERF Strap is used to restrict knee pain by outwardly rotating the hip so that the knee is aligned correctly. It may help with the popping in your hip but that is not the function of the strap. I suggest seeing your medical professional about your hip.

Hi I'm 5'8, 120-125 would I be a small or medium? I don't have knee pain, but my leg rotates internally making my stride awkward, would this help with that? Thank you.

Marc
Yes you can use this strap to get your leg to stay aligned correctly. You will order the medium

I'm 6'4" and weigh 190. I tried a loaner Serf strap that was a medium. It seemed to do the trick for my bone-on-bone pain in my right knee. Would there be an advantage in going to the recommended large size?
Question by: Lowell Smith on Nov 25, 2015, 2:12 PM
Lowell
If you used the medium and it fit fine you can get that size , however according to the size chart you would fit into the large

I have a right hip labral tear, how would this strap help with that?
Question by: Ryan on Jan 14, 2016, 8:52 AM
The SERF Strap is a support for the knee but also involves the hip. Internal hip rotation can put stress on the structures of the knee so the SERF Strap externally rotates the hip so that the hip and knee can align properly to decrease knee pain. If bringing your hip into an externallly rotated position decrease the pain in your hip then the SERF Strap may help.

5'9", 265 lbs. Will the strap work/fit me? I was hoping to use it in conjunction with the Webtech Knee Brace. Because my Right Knee measures 27" 20" 20" I have a difficult time keeping knee braces up. Sleeves are out of the question. If this won't work, would you have have a recommendation. After to ACL replacements, I experience a lot of paing front and sides of the knee
Question by: Linda on Mar 24, 2016, 6:51 PM
You would need to try the large size. If a soft brace won't stay up you might be able to try a rgid knee brace like the SE-4

I have bilateral genu valgum (knock knees). Will these straps help to "straighten out" my knees so they don't bow inward as much going from flexion back to extension? If not, do you offer a brace that would provide the realignment I am looking for (perhaps an OA brace)? My goal is to be able to perform heavy squats and other movements that place significant weight on the knee, without exacerbating my valgus deformity.
Question by: Matthew on May 5, 2016, 12:41 PM
The Don Joy SERF Strap will rotate the hip outward so that the knee will be aligned correctly when walking, going down stairs etc. The strap will not correct genu valgum. You may want to look at our OA braces and the lateral unloader will pushe against the insie of your knee towards the outside to correct that position. The braces are different based on severity of OA. The OA Reaction is for mild OA and is a low profile brace that may work for you.

I am 5"1 and my Weight is 150 what is the best size. I feel my right leg weak. Would this help support it?
Question by: Gabby on Jun 14, 2016, 12:49 PM
The Serf strap is ideal for those suffering with patellofemoral or anterior knee pain resulting from excessive hip internal rotation, adduction, and/or knee valgus. Based on the Size Chart you fall in a size Medium.

Both of my legs are weak and go inwards. My hips are also internally rotated. How would I choose which leg gets to utilize the strap?

You may purchase 2 SERF STAPS ,to help you provide the support you are looking for. You may try this out for 60 day and return it for a full refund

I have spina bifida ( L5S1) and have a recent patella tendinitis injury. When I walk, due to spina bifida, my right knee leans inward. Im told i have weak/no abductors and glutes. Can this help relieve some pressure on my injured knee to help it heal? Or maybe even improve my waddle walking? Finally...can this be bought through an orthopedist so insurance helps?
Question by: Lauren on Aug 18, 2016, 8:20 AM
The DonJoy SERF Strap may help by rotating the hip outward, reducing the pressure on that knee. You would have to check with your orthopedist regarding insurance coverage.

I forgot to ask if this is compatible with an afo brace? I see the strap below the knee would be right above my brace.
Question by: Lauren on Aug 18, 2016, 8:25 AM
The DonJoy Serf Strap is compatible with an AFO brace.
