I like that this brace is short. For over a year I have been wearing a full length hinged brace for my arthritis and chondomylacia. Would this brace work for those knee issues?
Also I have a ful length undersleeve...can I wear it with the short brace or does one come with it?
I like your products and your prices are very reasonable!
Thank you

This brace has two hinges so it will give medial and lateral support as well as patella support. It will be a good brace that will give general support of the knee. There may not be a need to wear a sleeve underneath

Will your replacement part kit work with this brace?

Cathy
That brace does not have parts

What material are the hinges made from? How thick is the brace at the center of the hinge? Would this brace be suitable for daily wear (I walk and stand quite a bit at work) or is it recommended only for moderate to light exercise activities like at the gym or during hiking? (I use Playmaker II brace for skiing only.)
Question by: sergusha on Jun 25, 2015, 1:03 PM
Hello,
The hinges in the DonJoy Performance Bionic Knee Brace are made out of a aircraft grade aluminum. At the center of the hinge it measures approximately 1/2 in thick, at each side. The DonJoy Performance Bionic Knee Brace is perfect for everyday use, as well as use during sports and exercise . The perforated neoprene will help keep you cool and comfortable when your out hiking and being active.

I am 5 foot 8 inches tall about 260 so I am pretty big for a small statue and really would like the to know if the extra large would be the right fit for me with the Don Joy performance bionic knee brace. I have a torn acl in my right knee and think about having in fixed in the near future and was wondering why this brace doesnt come in larger sizes for the simple fact I dont know if x large will work for me.
Question by: Timothy Sadowski on Jul 1, 2015, 10:10 PM
Hello Timothy!

Thank you for contacting Better Braces. The measurements are based on the center of the knee circumference so you would have to measure the the center of your knee. The extra large fits a person with a knee circumference of 17 inches to 19 inches. Unfortunately those are the only sizes the DONJOY PERFORMANCE LINE comes. The BIONIC KNEE BRACE gives you mild support compared to the rest of the DONJOY line.

I have had LCL, ACL, and PCL surgery and have been using the reconstruction brace and am looking for the next phase of braces to play soccer in. Is this something that could be of use to me?
Question by: Skye on Jul 7, 2015, 4:12 PM
Hello Skye,
The Bionic Knee would be a more mild level of support, and might not offer the protection you are looking for. If you are coming from a rigid brace and want to step down then I would suggest the DonJoy Playmaker II Knee Brace. It will provide better support and protection, and is great for sports like soccer.

Recovering from back surgery, leaving left leg weak. When attempting to walk, I occasionally suffer from hyperextension, causing discomfort. Will this brace prevent or reduce hyperextension?
Question by: Bob on Jul 8, 2015, 7:48 AM
Hello Bob,
Yes the DonJoy Performance Bionic Knee Brace will prevent hyper extension. The bilateral hinges will help control your extension to prevent the knee from hyper extending.

i play football and I recently tore my MPFL. Would this be a good brace for me to use?
Question by: Ethan on Jul 20, 2015, 8:02 PM
Ethan
The Bionic Knee will provide you with both midal and lateral support and give you some support around the kneecap with the buttress. This brace should be fine for your injury

Hello,

Wondering is this a netter option that offers performance for a WR football player, recovering from bone bruising on the Tibial Plateau and knee sprain?
Thank you
Question by: D on Jul 21, 2015, 6:45 AM
Any hinged knee brace will work for that condition. The Bionic is a thicker neoprene than the Playmaker or PlaymakerII. I would suggest the Playmaker II knee brace as an alternative. The brace will be cooler to wear and lighter, with a little more support than the Bionic provides

I have already had one ACL reconstructive surgery on my L knee and just recently, since I've upped my exercise/HIIT training, I've noticed my R knee beginning to slip, just how the L started. I thought the Performance sleeve would be enough, but a) it's too large (I bought a Small, I"m 13", so not sure why it doesn't fit) & b) offers absolutely no support against hyperextension, which is the direction my knee tends to go. This bionic brace sounds like a better option- I think it even said it has hyperextension stops. I am worried about getting another Small and it fitting too loosely. I understand it velcros in the back for various sizes- just trying to prevent another return for both our sakes. ;) Any suggestions/do you think this is a wise choice for stabilizing my knee during HIIT workouts? Thank you!!
Question by: Ravynn on Jul 27, 2015, 5:17 AM
The BIONIC KNEE BRACE would be good option which gives you the bilateral hinges to fully stabilize the joint against lateral forces while operating freely doing your training and exercises. It will give you the mild support. There is also the DONJOY DELUXE HINGED KNEE BRACE giving you the moderate support from instability of ligaments, sprains and injuries.

I've had an ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair done would the bionic knee brace be OK for me to play basketball in?
Question by: Eddie on Jul 28, 2015, 4:38 AM
Eddie,

If your ,ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair was done within the year it would be best to go with a FullFource Ligament Knee Brace, https://www.donjoystore.com/donjoy-fullfource-ligament-knee-brace. If it has been over a year, a Playmaker II https://www.donjoystore.com/donjoy-playmaker-ii-knee-brace, would give you better support.
