Is this a removable horseshoe pad and is this sleeve made of Neoprene?
Question by: Nan on Mar 30, 2010, 12:35 PM
The padding around the knee cap is made of foam on the DonJoy Cartilage Knee Brace. Foam does a nice job of padding the area around the patella and keeping the knee cap stable.

I am looking for a brace to help with support for sports activities after a knee cap fracture 5 months ago. I like that this has some padding around the patella, but will it provide the support I need for my slightly unstable knee?
This brace is ideal for knee instabilities and will provide ligament and patella support during activities.

Can this product be used while swimming laps in a pool at a moderate pace?
Question by: George on Jun 13, 2010, 2:45 PM
For water activities we suggest using a brace constructed with the neoprene material. The DonJoy Performer Knee Support would be a better option. See the link below for product information:
Hi, I broke my knee cap in October and have been in a knee Immobilizer ever since. I recently found out that I have a torn meniscus. My doctor told me not to bend my knee. Will this brace be good for me? If not what would you suggest? I've lost so much muscle mass I'm my leg, my current immobilier doesn't fit anymore.

Hello Melissa,
Our current line of immobilizers can be found here:
I have a torn medial meniscus with osteoarthritis (not much cartilege left) and a sprained mcl. Is this a good product for me? Thanks.
Question by: Jeanne on Jan 16, 2011, 2:48 PM
It will give you some compression to keep swelling which will help with taking the edge off your pain, but to help support the knee and take stress off the cartilage and the knee joint you would need a rigid frame brace with hinges.
I have a miniscus teat that is really acting up (pain). Will this brace allow me to run after the pain subsides. Also, will it help with alleviating the knee pain.
Question by: norm on Feb 7, 2011, 6:52 PM
The cartilage knee sleeve will provide compression for the knee joint making daily activities more comfortable for you. But it will not take stress off the cartilage, especially when running. You would need an unloading brace to take stress off the cartilage while being active. Braces to look at are the OA Adjuster or OA Lite.
I had a lateral release and surgery for my chondromalacia performed on each of my knees 5 years ago. Both knees were significally better for a few years but have really begun to hurt consistenly worse over the past couple of years. I know for sure that the chondromalacia is back b/c of the horrible "rice kirispy" sounds my knees make when bending and straightening. I have recently begun a bootcamp fitness class and am REALLY struggling with my knees. They seem increasingly unstable and are painful with certain exercises, exactly as before the surgeries. Would this knee brace help me at all? THANKS!
Question by: Kelley on Feb 24, 2011, 11:23 AM
Yes, the Cartilage Knee Sleeve is going to give your knee support and cushion from the sleeve, foam pad and medial and lateral stays, while being more active. It will not take the pain away completely, but it will allow you to be more active and feel supported.

Kelley,
Thank you for taking the time to email us here at betterbraces.com. Depending on which way your patella is tracking we have various braces to offer you. The TruPull Lite is a great product to prevent your knee cap from tracking laterally. It also has hinges so it helps to keep your knee stable. We have other patellofemoral products as well like the adjustable patella donut if you are not sure which way your knee cap is tracking. Should you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Will Medicare and Medicaid cover a knee sleeve?
Question by: Jeff on Mar 23, 2011, 12:50 PM
We cannot answer this question. That is something you would need to ask Medicare and Medicaid directly. It is possible they would cover it if you met certain criteria.
