What is the difference between medial and lateral
Question by: Misty thompson on Apr 6, 2011, 6:45 PM
Hey Misty
Medial and lateral refer to anatomical landmarks. If you were looking at someone standing directly in front of you, facing you, and you drew an imaginary line down the middle of their body splitting them into equal halves, anything towards the line would be medial, and away from the line would be lateral. The inside of the leg which is towards the line is the medial side of the leg, the outside of the leg which is further away from that line is the lateral side of the leg. In this case, the medial compartment of the knee is towards the inside of the leg, and the lateral compartment of the knee is towards the outside of the leg.

Thanks

I have purchased an OA Everyday. Is there a DonJoy OA Everyday video on how to correctly fit my brace to my knee? Or a PDF? I have lost the little paper that came with my brace.
Thanks!
Question by: Texas Gal on Dec 7, 2011, 7:17 AM
We will eventually have videos up on how to fit a brace properly, but at this time we do not. I will forward you the PDF instructions.

Would you recommend this brace for someone who has knee hyperextension from a stroke ?
Question by: Robert on Dec 15, 2011, 3:52 PM
No this product is for people with Osteoarthritis. You would benefit from a product with Fourcepoint Hinges such as the FullFource or Armor. This hinge has a dampening affect through extension, like having break pads on your car.

I have OA of the right knee with the damage portion being on the inside.
As I understand this, if I order the DonJoy OA Everyday brace it would
be “Medical Right”. Is this correct?
Question by: Harold Hollis on Dec 26, 2011, 1:38 PM
Yes, you should order the medial unloader version.

If you have additional questions, please call 1-800-553-6019.

Have a nice day.

Chris,
If you are looking for something for help with everyday activities of daily living then this is a great brace. It is low profile and fits under pants better than some of our bulkier braces.

Can this brace be worn playing hockey or basketball? Will it slide down the leg when playing sports?
Question by: Mike on Feb 2, 2013, 6:19 PM
Hello, Mike -

The OA Everyday is not designed for athletic activities such as hockey or basketball. Although suspension (the brace sliding down the leg) should not be an issue, it was not designed to withstand high forces incurred while participating in these type of sports. The OA Everyday is made for activities of daily living, such as walking, yard work, stair ambulation, mild hiking. By wearing it during high level activity, you can either compromise the support of the brace or even damage the brace itself.

If you have further questions, please feel free to contact our product specialists at 888-405-3251.

Thank you and have a wonderful day!
