I purchased the Playmaker and I absolutely love it. I ordered size large, closed popliteal, wraparound, w/drytex. I want to purchase the playmaker II in a similar setup. What would you suggest? And what type of material? I teach fitness classes and I sweat ALOT so I want a breathable material that isn't prone to "stinking" much=) Is it interchangeable between the left and right knee?
Question by: mary on Aug 2, 2013, 2:33 AM
Hello Mary,

Yes, this brace is universal can be worn on either leg. I recommend the Playmaker II, Spacer Material. The Spacer Material is the New Mesh Material that is breathable.

Thanks for Contacting Donjoy.

I was wondering what the main difference between This and the deluxe hinged knee brace is. Can this be worn with a skiboot? Also with out a patella donut means that the entire front part of the knee is covered?
Question by: Chris on Aug 6, 2013, 8:59 AM
Hello Chris,

The deluxe is 13inch's long, the playmaker is 16inch's long. The longer the hinge the more support you have with the brace. The patella donut means there will be an additional donut support for the patella, without a donut, you just have the cutout.

Thanks for Contacting Donjoy.

I am a 54 year old golfer whose right ACL has been diagnosed as not functioning from long ago trauma. What brace will provide lateral support for my right handed backswing when my right knee wants to sway out? I can swng left handed and see that my left knee holds firm and I can turn against it. I am 6'-4" and 230 lbs.
Thx!
Question by: Larry on Aug 25, 2013, 9:35 AM
The FullForce, would be an excellent brace for an active tennis player, it is rigid and light weight. it would take over for your ACL and give stability to your lateral compartment.

I am trying to decide between the playmaker and the playmaker 2. I think a wraparound brace would be easier to put on. Is the playmaker 2 a slip on or wraparound brace?
Question by: Shawn on Aug 31, 2013, 8:16 PM
The Playmaker 2 is a sleeve, the wrap around model is not on better braces as of yet. The wrap around style is much easier to put on.

My son is 13 years old and an agressive running fullback. He recently suffered a moderate MCL strain. He is expected to be cleared to play again in about 2 weeks. I am considering buying him the playmaker 2 brace to give him added stability when he returns to play. My question is do you know if this brace is compliant with high school football rules. Specifically they can not have any exposed metal on the brace.

Thanks!
Question by: Hugh on Sep 16, 2013, 5:52 PM
The hinge of the brace should be abve the bottom of the pants, the rest of that hinge is in the brace itself so the metal is not exposed.

I have EDS (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome) which means my joints are very lax and tend to sublux if not full dislocate quite often. About a year ago I blew out my left knee pretty good. Ever since then ive walked with a cane due to my knee buckling under my weight (135lbs). I was wondering if the Playmaker 2 would be a good brace to keep my knee in place and to keep it from buckling one way or another. Thanks.
Question by: Hunter on Sep 26, 2013, 4:52 PM
Hunter,
The Playmaker will offer moderate support to your knee joint. This brace does come with a DropLock hinge option. You are able to set the hinge in a locked position to keep your knee from buckling however it does not allow for knee flexion and will affect your gate. DropLock hinges are ideal for full leg extension lock for patient standing assist, post-operative use, MS patients, ACL/Quadriceps complications and post-polio syndrome. I would speak with your doctor as this might be a good option for you.
Answer by: Admin on Sep 26, 2013, 4:52 PM
In the description section of this brace, it says that the hinge is customizable? What min and max degrees of ROM will this brace allow? Specifically, I will be telemarking this winter after an ACL reconstruction in April and I need to be able to bend my knee past 90 degrees (like a deep lunge). Will this brace provide support and prevent a re-tear, without completely taking over the joint and preventing strength building?

Thanks for your help!

The Playmaker II comes with a 10 degree extension stop already installed, however it also comes with a flexion/extension stop kit. Inside the kit are four extension stops at 0,20,30,and 40 degrees, and 4 flexion stops at 45. 60, 75, and 90 degrees. The brace will allow full flexion and limit your extension by 10 degrees as it is but is able to limit motion, by adding stops. You should speak to your medical professional before limiting any motion in the brace. The material is a nylon/spandex fabric so it should give you the freedom to move freely without feeling bulky and at the same time give you the support for that ACL. Is this brace approved to be worn at the High School Soccer level? My dauther is a student in Ohio.
Question by: Larry on Oct 10, 2013, 8:36 AM
Larry,
This is a common brace to be worn in high school athletics. However, each conference has their own rules and regulations on braces. It will be up to the refs to decide if this brace is approved or not. Your daughter’s athletic trainer may also know from previous experience if this brace would be ok in her conference.
This brace does have some exposed metal at the hinges while the arms of the hinges are covered. If the exposed hinges are a problem, we do sell a 1/8” neoprene cover for other braces that could be worn over this brace. Another option would be to use a volleyball kneepad to cover just the area of the hinges.
Thank you for your question and please feel free to contact us with any other concerns or questions you may have.

My son plays high school football & plays on the offensive line. I want to make sure I'm protecting his knees from injury. I would love to buy the most expensive brace you have, but cannot afford it. Is the playmaker II a good alternative to the other braces you have for football?
Question by: Steve on Oct 16, 2013, 6:39 AM
Steve
Thank you for contacting product support. The Playmaker II is a good brace for non-contact sports, but I would not reccommend it for a football player. Our least expensive brace that I would suggest for a football player would be the DonJoy Legend SE 4 https://www.donjoystore.com/donjoy-legend-se-4-knee-brace. The legend is recommended for all contact sport and is a rigid knee brace that protects all of the ligament of the knee. If you have any other questions please do not hesitate to contact us

Question on size selection for DJ Playmaker II.
Thigh 44cm
Knee 39cm
Calf 36cm
According to your size chart, my leg circumferences relate to S, L, and M sizes respectively. Would it be suitable to select M?
Thank you.

Maike
The medium seems like it would be the best fit. It might be slightly bigger on the thigh, you will just have to tighten the thigh straps a little more
