My daughter is 14 has a torn ACL and medial meniscus, she is a competitive cheerleader she currently weRs brace similar to the defiance III, however we are looking for a softer brace but still with the protection for the acl and especially the meniscus would this brace work?
Question by: Melissa on Sep 5, 2015, 6:11 PM
Melissa
There are no soft braces that will provide the same protection as a rigid knee brace. Moving her from a rigid knee brace to a soft will increase chances of re-injury or further injury.

My thigh is 18 1/2" knee14" and calf 12". That makes my thigh and knee right in between small and medium and calf in the small range. Would you recommend small or medium for me? I am looking at the Donjoy Playmaker knee brace.
Question by: Todd H on Sep 11, 2015, 9:00 AM
Todd
I would suggest going with the medium brace since these neoprene braces can run a little small

Could you provide instructions regarding the cleaning of the brace?
Question by: Mitchell on Sep 30, 2015, 3:48 PM
Mitchell
Hand wash with a mild soap and let the brace air dry

I dislocated and fractured my patella over 10 years ago. Later, I tore my meniscus and had surgery (almost 3 years ago). I still suffer from pain during some physical activity and my knee feels weak. I'm looking for a brace that will offer support for both my patella and meniscus for an upcoming ski trip. Will the Playmaker offer the support I need?
Question by: Carrie on Oct 18, 2015, 8:34 PM
Carrie
The Playmaker is a good brace that will support the knee but if you want patellar support as well you will need to go with the Playmaker II and choose w/patella doughnut option. https://www.donjoystore.com/donjoy-playmaker-ii-knee-brace another option for you is the Reaction Web Knee Brace. The Reaction will provide support for both problems and is alight weight short brace that you can wear while skiing.

I am trying to purchase a Playmaker L1832. The measurements at the thigh and calf indicate an XS in size but the knee indicates a size S. This is being purchased to support a knee with MCL instability is a varus knee. What size do you recommend ?
Question by: Cynthia on Feb 8, 2016, 9:59 AM
I would suggest gong with the wraparound in the smaller size

Does this hinge provide any "spring" resistance like the armor knee support?
Question by: david on Feb 15, 2016, 8:58 PM
This brace has a standard hingw which does not have the resisance in it. The Playmaker II with fourcepoint hinge is the same hinge as the Armor Fourcepoint

My leg bends easier backwards than the way it should due to Ms and I'm afraid of hyperextension been to a prosthetic specialists and what they offer won't fit under pants and can't wear on outside of pants looking for a wrap around preferably with adjustable hinges do you offer anything
Question by: Gary on Feb 22, 2016, 5:41 PM
The Playmaker or the Playmaker II come in a wrap around style and they also come with an extension stop kit which contains stops that can be installed on the braces hinges to limit knee Hyper extension.

I want to buy a drytex wrap around playmaker. I have worn a large for years, but I always wondered if I should try a medium. Could you please advise? My knee measures 16 3/4 inches, 6 inches above 18 1/2, and 6 inches below the knee is 14 3/4 inches. Thank You for your time.
Question by: John on Feb 25, 2016, 10:04 AM
You thigh and calf are in the medium range but the knee is in the large. A medium may be more snug around the thigh and calf but be a little tight over the knee. If the size you have been using works for you and fits fine stay with that size

I suffered a partial distal acl tear, partial lcl tear and had a meniscus repair surgery back in September 2015. I injured it doing Jiu Jitsu and want to go back but won't to make sure I have the best knee protection available. What do you recommend? My measurements are center knee=16", thigh =17 and calf=14. Thank you.
Question by: Bob on Feb 27, 2016, 5:56 AM
The Playmaker II with the fourcepoint hinge would give you the most protection if you are looking for a soft low profile brace. The brace has low profile hinges and the fourcepoint hinge will help to prevent further injury in the knee. Based on your measurments you would need a medium brace.

Does this brace lock into place to keep the leg straight? I need a brace I can keep my knee straight but in the future be able to use it for movement support.
Question by: Stephanie on Apr 13, 2016, 2:25 PM
Hi Stephanie,

The Playmaker can be adjusted to completely lock out with no movement. The component that does this is called a stop and can only be ordered by your physician or a representative and installed by them. These stops are removable so if in the future you do not need it to lock out you can remove them.
