DonJoy OA Assist Osteoarthritis Knee Brace - All Questions
The OA Assist is for people who are not very active, so if you just do some occasional walking this brace will be fine. The OA Nano is for a very active person. In either of these braces you would need to unload the medial comparment.
I am looking for a brace to help ease her pain and discomfort on getting up from prolonged sitting and lying down, support her on Activities of Daily living while not cumbersome for her .
Wear either of those braces on both knee will be cumbersome. If your mother needs to unload the medial compartment then the OA Assist will be a better choice because the hinge will be on the outside of the knee and the two braces will not hit each other. You may want to think about just getting her a standard hinged knee brace to give her basic stability to help her stand up and get around with the walker. The Don Joy Deluxe hinged knee brace will do just that but will not unload her knees. https://www.donjoystore.com/donjoy-drytex-neoprene-deluxe-hinged-knee-wraparound-sleeve
Thank you
The OA Assist is applied by placing the brace on the knee and using the velcro straps around the leg. It is not a step into brace like our other OA braces.
