how does one decide the size particularly when ordering online? do we measure the ankle circumference?

Hello,
The width of the ankle stirrup is adjustable. The difference is the sizing is the Height of the Brace. The taller the brace the more support that will be provided.
small:8 3/4"
medium:9"
larger: 10 1/2"
Thanks for Contacting Donjoy.

Can the brace be frozen (to provide limited cold therapy)? My orthopedic surgeon is recommending I wear this brace during my recovery from ORIF of a tri-malleolar fracture. Eventually I will be standing for 8-12 hours per day & anticipate needing to use cold therapy frequently throughout the day. Will this product freeze hard like an ice cube or stay malleable at 32F? Can the gels/pads be moved from one brace to another?
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Jamie

The brace has air in the pads so they will not freeze. You cannot use it for cold therapy

My Podiatry Surgeon ordered an AirCast Ankle Brace, due to a tri-malleolar fracture. I have used a boot for 12 weeks which was extended four weeks more than planned because osteopenic bones and due to my obesity my doctor ordered not to wear any weight for the first 8 weeks with the boot. I have starting putting some weight but still not fully ready. I need something that provides maximum support and therapy. I was given an OPT CODE L 4350 at an Orthopedic Orthotics medical provider that went out of business, leaving me with the option of ordering by internet. The one they showed me looks like the Aircast Stirrup Ankle Brace Kit and comes with Gel not with Air.
Please let me know if the Aircast Stirrup Plus is a better option for me and what is the difference between gel and Air.
Thanks,
Rosa

any of the stirrup braces will be fine, they all work the same way. The aircast is pre-inflated with air in the bladders for comfort. we do not have an aircast that has gel inside instead of air, but the gel is used the same as the air.

This air stirrup is for the ankle, medium will be a 9" tall brace. If you have a lef stress fx you may need something taller like the Aircast Leg Brace https://www.donjoystore.com/aircast-leg-brace
