how does this brace compare to the breg pto?
Question by: dancinonwater on Feb 1, 2011, 1:56 PM
The DonJoy Drytex Hinged Air Knee Brace is a patellofemoral brace that will stabilize you kneecap; however, the DonJoy brace most compatible to the PTO is the Tru-Pull Advanced System which had the bifurcated strap to adjust the amount of support to the needs of your knee. The Tru-Pull Advanced knee brace comes with or without hinges. Another patellofemoral brace that is unique to the market is the DonJoy Reaction brace which has the elastomeric web design. The elastomeric design creates energy dispersion across the knee for optimal shock absorption

I had an meniscus removed 25 years ago. To this day my knee swells with use such as hiking or BC/XC skiing . I am looking at the braces for this specific injury. I find that my thigh is a medium 19 " and my calf is a large 16".Is it better to go with the large or medium?Need the support but am concerned about cutting off the circulation if the calf is too tight.
Question by: Tony Randall on Feb 26, 2011, 4:30 PM
I would recommend getting the Hinged Donjoy knee brace, wrap-around, in drytex, in medium. A large would be too loose on your thigh. The wrap-around would allow for adjustability, and they drytex will stretch over time. That is your best fit.

My daughter needs xl knee brace. We have several with velco straps. These braces do not stay up despite us making them as tight as possible. Any suggestions. Her patella needs stabilizing. Thank you
Question by: Marsha harlow on May 12, 2011, 3:15 PM
With the Hinged Air DonJoy, It is going to have the uprights and hinges in this brace, which will help keep the brace suspended along with the velcro straps. This brace will be more efficient, while still providing patella stabilization.

I have torn miniscus in left knee ( right replaced ) and bone on bone issues and need support for the next three months until I return home for possible surgery. I play golf 5x weekly so I need an apparatus to take the shock and twisting which I do not overload as when younger. What would be some possiblities to reduce pain, other than stopping golfing. The left leg is 2" outbound from knee down.

Based on your injury and activity level the OA FullForce would be recommended.

I tore my miniscus playing a pick up game of basketball and dislocated my knee. I'm looking for a brace that will keep my kneecap in place, looking to start playing again.
Question by: Harry Brooks on Apr 9, 2013, 5:58 PM
Harry,
The Hinged Tru-Pull Advanced or Hinged Lateral J are good braces for patellar dislocations. The hinge will give stabiklity and some protection for the meniscus injury.

I was wondering what brace would be good to wear for running and biking. I tore my acl and meniscus about 10 years ago . I kept tearing my meniscus few more times so they removed it . When I run there is a slit pain . Just wondering what brace would be good for my activities. Thanks
Question by: Amanda on Jun 21, 2013, 1:36 PM
Hello Amanda,

I recommend an OA Brace, it's specifically designed to offload the pressure on the injured meniscus and shift the weight to the healthy side. Please see the link below.
