Numerous ankle injuries have left me with a very weak right foot and ankle that constantly rolls or gets jammed under things causing me to fall. The resulting limp causes chronic sciatica, and the use of a cane is causing nerve pain in my shoulder. I'm only 29 and freaked out but the doctor said, "Here's a pill, get a brace, and call me after you've gotten physical therapy. Yay...
I'm using the ProCare Stabilized Ankle Support, and it's fine, but I want to get something that offers the same or more support and is easier to put on and take off, because my wife often has to assist me when putting it on. Also, the ProCare brace is the only one I've found so far that is long enough to reach the middle of my fat size 14 foot, so a tiny brace won't cut it.
Thanks in advance for your help, sincerely.

The Don Joy Stabilizing Pro Ankle Brace is very similar to the Procare brace you have been using except that it is a more supportive brace than the Procare. It is sized exactly as the procare brace so you can get the same size. https://www.donjoystore.com/donjoy-stabilizing-pro-ankle-brace Another option is the AirCast Air Sport Ankle Brace. https://www.donjoystore.com/aircast-airsport-ankle-brace This brace is a very supportive brace as well with less straps than the previous brace. The XL should fit you.

I have a Grade II inversion sprain, less than a week old, so still very sore and swollen. I have a walking boot which is great when I'm out, but I'm looking for something less bulky for indoors and to wear at night. My problem is I have really, really fat calves. I measure 13.5" at my ankle, so that puts me in a large for this brace. By the time I get 10" up my calf where the universal stirrup braces hit, my calf measures 20". The velcro on the strap won't even go all the way around. I'm wondering if this would work since it's a lower profile.

Yes you can wear that to bed, and it will provide some stability

Is this brace waterproof, and will this brace work for competitive swimming??

The brace can be worn in the pool just make sure to rinse it off in clean water after usage and let it air dry

I was just prescribed a brace at the doctor that looks like this brace, but I wasn't able to get the model #. My insurance doesn't cover braces for sprains, and they wanted to charge me about $95. The brace I saw had both laces and straps, like this one. Is this the only brace like that or is there another model that is more likely to be the one they brought out to me? I have a grade 2-3 high ankle sprain, about 2 1/2 weeks old.
Can I put moleskin inside? I am on the way to developing a rash and blisters. It is my second day. I am wearing a long sock.

Please contact Better Braces directly at 800-553-6019. We would like to recommend an alternate brace for you that will be more comfortable than the material that is irritating your skin. We do not recommend altering the braces. Two options that may work better for you that would provide similar support would be either the Rocketsoc Ankle Support Brace in the Drytex material, or the Aircast Airsport Ankle Brace. https://www.donjoystore.com/donjoy-rocketsoc-ankle-support-1504 https://www.donjoystore.com/aircast-airsport-ankle-brace
