Dealing with Lower Back Pain
According to the Mayo Clinic, about 80% of Americans will experience lower back pain at least once in their lives. Did you know that back pain is one of the most common reason for missing work or having to go to the doctor?
Back pain is related to the way our bones, muscles and ligaments in our backs work together. Some common causes of back pain include…
- Abnormal curvature of the spine
- Arthritis
- Bulging disks
- Osteoporosis
- Ruptured or Herniated disks
- Strained muscles and ligaments
- Sciatica
Treating back pain is something that is best done under the care of a physician. In some cases pain can usually be addressed with over-the-counter pain relievers and hot and cold therapy. Depending on the severity of your pain, treatment options could include physical therapy, cortisone injections, prescription drugs like NSAID, and, in the most severe cases, surgery.
